The Community
What makes the Ranger Park Disc Golf course special is the contributions made by so many to make an idea, reality. You will notice these
contributions the minute you step onto the course. Every basket, sign-post, and tee-off marker was designed, constructed, and installed by
volunteers from the community. For instance, instead of the expensive steel baskets you see on other courses, more affordable reclaimed
materials were used in the making of these hand made baskets. You will also notice that some of the baskets are painted. This was performed by
youth from the Living Color Project (sponsored by Positive Living).
To play the course is to experience community involvement. None of this could have been done without the assitance by the following:
- Bulkley Valley Credit Union
- Smithers Lumber
- Design Works
- FootPrint
- Emily Bulmer
- Ben Weinstein
- Mark Gillis
- Dave Andermatt
- Mark Parminter
- Miriam Colvin
- Aaron Trowbridge
- Earl Ingram
- youth from the Living Colour Project
- Facundo Gastiazoro
Discs
Disc Golf can be played with any disc, but is most enjoyable when played with PDGA approved disc golf discs. You can sign out a used disc from the town of Smithers on 1027 Aldous Street or from Valhalla, found on Main St.
